Cruising performance sailing

This course is an excellent opportunity to improve your cruising sailing skills and acquire the autonomy you need to be able to assume the responsibility of steering a cruise ship with confidence. You will navigate the Ría de Vigo, which will allow you to get to know it more thoroughly and leave with maximum security on your future voyages.

This activity is aimed at people with previous sailing experience and who already have a nautical qualification. It is divided into 4 sessions of 4 hours of navigation with one of our instructors.

You will learn how to trim the sails and you will practice the most frequent maneuvers. You will plan a defeat to follow with and without the help of electronic devices. You will also carry out the most emblematic itineraries of the Ría de Vigo so that you can navigate them alone or with whoever you want on your next outings as a skipper, either on your own boat or on a chartered one.

Access level: Level 2 (A Full Sail Block)

Content:
Most used and practiced manoeuvres: anchoring, docking and undocking, tacking.
Sail trim.
Planning the defeat in the Ría de Vigo.
Use of electronic devices and other tools on board to know our course.
Resolution of possible problems on board: how to apply Dacron, man overboard, emergency calls,…

Requirements:
Knowledge: level 2 (Full Sail Block)
Minimum age: 18 years
Duration: 16hrs
Port of departure and arrival: Real Club Náutico de Vigo.
Minimum group of 4 people and up to 6 maximum per boat.
Hours: Check the calendar to see the dates. We usually plan weekends with two possible time options: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. / 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Service includes: A Beneateau First Class 7.5, sailing instructor, boat insurance, a practical course according to listed content, facilities with toilets and changing rooms.

Service does not include: snacks or drinks on board, raincoats or coats

Wardrobe recommendation:

  • Raincoat and casual warm clothing (depending on weather conditions).
  • At least one change of socks.
  • Boat shoes or trainers/sneakers (black soles are prohibited on board), it is advisable that they be made of a non-slip material.
  • Depending on the time of year, consider bringing: hat, sunglasses and sun protection.
